    The heating cables with a built-in thermostat are designed to prevent the freezing of classic water pipes. The heating cables already have a factory-set thermostat that is programmed to maintain the temperature at 3 ° C and thus prevent the water in the pipeline from freezing. A plug-in connection is also factory-made. These facts make it very easy to install this heating cable. It just needs to be wrapped around the pipes, thermally insulated and connected to the mains through the socket.

    How to choose the proper power of the heating cable?

    The required power of the heating cable depends on:

    • expected ambient temperatures,
    • from the thickness of the thermal insulation
    • the required temperature of the medium flowing through the pipe

    In most cases, 10-15 W / m heating cables are used to prevent frost in the pipelines.

    The required power of the heating cables can be roughly understood from the table, assuming that the required temperature of the medium flowing through the pipe is 5 ° C.

    A specific example of the use of heating cables:

    1. We have a pipeline with a diameter of 1 “and a length of 48 m, through which water flows, the temperature of which must not fall below 5 ° C.
    2. Ambient temperature is min. -25°C, thermal insulation thickness 20 mm.
    3. The table shows that the required power of the heating cable is min. 10 W/m.
    4. The total required power of the heating cable is therefore at least 480 W (10 W/m x 48 m).
    5. In no case should the heating cable be shorter than the pipeline.
